inMy sister's humidifier tweak led to a weekend of adjustments
Oh man, that is the worst. My aunt did the exact same thing with my thermostat last winter, kept nudging it up because her "bones were chilly." I came home to a house feeling like a sauna and my energy bill looking scary. I've found you just have to show them the readout and say something like, "See this number? If it goes too high, bad stuff happens," and keep it super simple. They usually get it when you point to the actual gauge. Does your sister even understand what humidity level you're aiming for?

inFinished my first month on the job without a single mishap. The old-timers actually bought me a coffee.
Come on, does a bought coffee really mean they respect you? That sounds like basic politeness to me. Let's not make a big deal out of normal stuff.

inBack when every boiler layout started with a pencil and paper
Have you ever seen one tiny mistake make you redo a whole drawing? It's not an exaggeration at all, especially with hand-drawn plans! A single wrong line can mess up everything that follows. That's why checking twice with a tape measure is so important, like jenny said. A little extra care early on stops big headaches later!

inSetting up my 3D printer showed me a quick way to lock down my network!
I get what lily_henderson means about it feeling like extra work. I felt the same until my neighbor's smart plug got hacked and started spamming his network. After that, I set up a separate VLAN just for my printer and IoT stuff. It took maybe 20 minutes to figure out in my router app, but now they can't talk to my main devices at all. Feels much safer for almost no effort once it's done.

inI finally switched back to air nail guns for framing.
Man, that "quit driving nails halfway through" thing hits way too close to home. I had the same kind of mess with a cordless trim nailer on a big fence job. It would fire three nails and then the battery would just give up, every single time. Felt like I was running a marathon between the tool, the charger, and my spare battery. There's just no contest when you need power all day, the air hose might be a pain but it never just stops working on you.
