inA router bit snapped mid-project on a custom cabinet door.
Well, I see your point but I've had the opposite happen. A snapped blade once sent a piece of metal flying right past my head, safety glasses or not. That wasn't a helpful warning, it was pure danger. Sometimes a broken tool just means you're now holding a sharp piece of junk. It's not always a sign to check your work, sometimes it's just a sign you need a better tool.

inHeard a shop owner say they only hire people who can hand write a program now
Sounds a bit over the top to me... most shops just need parts made right and on time. Understanding code is one thing, but making it a hard rule seems like gatekeeping. The real world usually cares more about the final product than how you got there.

inShowerthought: I read a forum post where a freelancer said 'the client who argues the most about your rate is always the one who pays the slowest'.
Tell me about it, @david_palmer. I used to do some freelance work and the clients who nickel and dimed the project fee were always the same ones who asked for endless tiny revisions that weren't in the deal. It's like they think the discount gives them a free pass on everything else. I've seen it with friends too, haggling hard at a flea market then getting mad the seller won't throw in a free repair.

inHonestly, I was at a coffee shop in Denver and two guys were arguing about whether you should binge a show fast or take your time with it. One said you lose the details if you rush, the other said the hype dies if you wait. What's the better way to watch?
Yeah @derek_ross, forcing a slower pace just makes me forget stuff. I keep a simple note on my phone for big shows, just a line or two after each episode. Lets me binge but still catch the details.

inNoticed a real shift after I started a firm 5pm laptop shutdown rule
My best ideas always hit me after 8pm though.
