inWhy I stopped sending invoices the same day I finish work
Honestly I think waiting a day is the smart play and your Phoenix client proved why. Some people see fast invoices as pressure even when you're just being efficient. In my experience the ones who get weird about it are also the ones who will hold a payment just to prove a point. That 3 week delay for $4200 is brutal and I'm guessing you won't make that mistake again. The golden retriever comparison made me laugh because I've been that same fool too many times. Waiting 24 hours costs you nothing and saves you from looking desperate or pushy.

inFinally figured out why my tube sheets were always a pain to roll
Started pulling a trailer axle bearing that had been sitting for years and put a pipe wrench on it with a cheater bar... snapped the stub axle clean off. Had to torch the whole hub assembly off and replace it all. So yeah, the feel thing is real but sometimes you learn more from what you break than what you fix. That resistance you're asking about, you can definitely feel it in your wrist before you hear it seat, kind of like a tiny click through the bones. Sound just confirms what your hand already told you if you're paying attention.

inFound out my old way to check a laser level was off by a quarter inch over 50 feet
robert483 said his old boss swore by a plumb bob, but I don't know if I'd call that a "saved the day" situation. It's a string with a weight on the end, not a miracle worker. If the whole job is riding on whether or not you can hold a rock on a piece of yarn, you've got bigger problems than your level. I feel like people push the old school stuff because it makes them feel clever, not because it's actually better. Half the time the setup alone takes longer than just using a laser level would. It works fine, but let's not pretend it's some heroic feat of construction.

inDiscovered you can use a zip tie to fish cable through insulated walls way faster
Wait, didn't you see the post from that sparky in the Midwest last week about fishing through blown-in insulation? He said the same thing about glow rods being useless for that. I think it really depends on the insulation you're dealing with. Some of that old dense stuff just grabs onto a regular fish tape no matter how careful you are. The zip tie trick at least gives you a little more control to nudge the tape around. It's not like it's replacing your whole tool kit, it's just a quick fix for a specific headache. Seems like the guy was just sharing something that worked for him, not claiming it was some groundbreaking invention lol.

inCoworking spaces killed my productivity but nobody wants to admit it
Walked right into that trap too @kimr91 - I showed up with my laptop and noise canceling headphones and some dude with a man bun tried to sell me a share of his vegan jerky company before I even found a seat. Legit had to climb out a bathroom window one time to avoid a forced group meditation session at noon. Your truck strategy is honestly BRILLIANT - no kombucha, no networking, just you and a parking lot. Might have to invest in a minivan myself just to get some peace and quiet.
