Noticed something sketchy at the coffee shop on Central Ave during the freelancer meetup
So I went to that Tuesday freelance meetup at the coffee shop on Central Ave near the university yesterday and spotted something that bugged me. There was a guy going table to table handing out cards and pitching himself as a "full service" freelancer. He claimed he does logo work, web design, video editing, and SEO all for $200 flat. I sat next to a designer who hired him, and she pulled up his site on her phone right there. The logo was straight up a stock image with the watermark half rubbed out, and the copy on the page still had lorem ipsum in two spots. She said he ghosted her after she asked for the source files. I get that everyone is hustling here, but this kind of thing makes new clients nervous about working with any of us local folks. Has anyone else run into this guy or others like him at the meetups around town?
