Shoutout to the guy running the print shop on Central who remembered every freelancer by name
Stopped by that little print shop on Central near the university to get some flyers done and the owner knew three people in line by name and what they did. One was a designer doing logos for a food truck, one was a copywriter, and he even remembered that a guy who does audio work needed his stuff stapled a certain way. I've been in Abq going on 9 years now and I swear it never used to feel this connected for people working solo. It's a small thing but watching him hand a folder to a client and say "your usual, right?" made me realize how much of freelancing here runs on little spots like that. I get most of my own work through word of mouth now, not apps, and I think places like this are a big part of why. Makes me wonder if I'm missing out by never going in there just to chat. Does anyone else have a shop or spot like that where the owner basically runs a side network for freelancers?
