Spent 11 hours last Tuesday chasing a client's Wix form that wouldn't send emails, and it wasn't the form at all
I picked up a gig from a bakery here in town that needed their contact form to actually deliver messages, and that job should have taken maybe 45 minutes. Instead I burned 11 hours over two days, rebuilding the form twice, testing five different email addresses, and calling their web host twice, because every message just vanished into nothing. Turns out the client had set up a filter in their inbox months ago that auto-archived anything with the word 'website' in the subject line, which is exactly what the form used. So the form worked the whole time and I was out there rebuilding something that was never broken. I get that people say you should always check the client's email setup first, but honestly I think that advice is lazy, since most of the time it really is a send issue on the back end. Has anyone else lost a full day to something this dumb, or am I the only one who skips the boring stuff first?
