A guy at a coffee shop in Austin told me my AI chatbot sounded like a DMV robot, and he was right
I was showing a friend my new customer support chatbot at a cafe on South Congress last Tuesday, feeling pretty proud of it. A guy at the next table leaned over and said it sounded like a phone tree that hates people, and honestly, he nailed it. The bot answered 12 questions in a row without ever admitting it didn't know something, just kept looping the same polite nonsense. I went home and rewrote the fallback to actually say "I don't know, let me get a human" and the test group's thumbs down went from 40% to like 9%. Does anyone here handle the "bot sounds too robotic" thing, or is that just something you live with?
