inVent: I keep hearing guys swear by the old manual shakeout method over a vibratory table.
Exactly. Numbers don't lie. Seen the same thing in a shop I worked with. That "feel" argument falls apart when you're looking at the scrap pile and the clock. The manual method just can't match the consistency. You get tired, you press harder in spots, that's where the breaks happen. The table does the same thing every time. Stick with what the test showed you.

inRead a study that said 60% of freelancers have a client over 90 days late
Ugh, that stat hits way too close to home. Honestly, my own late-payment file is so big I use it as a paperweight. I just stop all work and switch to sending weekly, very polite but firm, reminder emails.

inBought a 'premium' brush pack for $60 and used it exactly once
Premium" brush packs are the digital art world's gym membership you never use... I feel that pain. Honestly, the best brush is just the one you actually click on. My whole "collection" is basically two default ones and a weird speckle thing I made.
