Guy at the feed store told me to stop trimming so much hoof wall, and the horse quit stumbling
Was complaining to Dave at the Co-op in Seguin about a gelding that kept tripping on the trail, and he said most folks take off way more wall than the foot actually wants. Figured he was just old and set in his ways, but I backed off to about an eighth inch past the sole and the stumbling stopped inside of two weeks. Now I'm wondering how many horses I've been over-trimming for years without knowing it. Any of you had a horse tell you the same thing?
