That time I forgot the basket liner and spent 45 minutes scrubbing melted cheese

Last Tuesday I was rushing before work, threw some frozen mozzarella sticks in my air fryer at 400 degrees without putting any liner down. Big mistake, the cheese oozed through the slats and baked right onto the heating coil. My kitchen smelled like burnt dairy for the rest of the day and I had to unplug the whole unit and CAREFULLY scrape it with a wooden skewer before it cooled into cement. The manual said not to use anything metal so I used a chopstick and honestly it took way too long. I also heard this weird clicking sound after, turns out a chunk of cheese fell down behind the fan. Anyone else had a melty disaster like this or should I just stick to parchment rounds from now on?
