A bolt torque spec I ignored almost led to disaster
Now I never skip the torque wrench.

It's crazy how many small things we ignore until they almost break. My old car taught me the same lesson with ignoring weird sounds until something actually fails. Guess we all need that one close call to make the right habits stick.

Watched my buddy ignore a faint grinding noise in his car for way too long. He kept saying it was probably nothing until his brakes gave out on the highway. Thankfully he was okay, but the scare made him get every little sound checked now. He even set up monthly check ups for his car, which he never did before. It's like you said, sometimes we need that wake up call to start doing the right thing.

Oh totally, I had the same thing happen with my old Honda. I kept hearing this faint whine when I turned the air conditioning on, but I just cranked the radio up. Idk, I figured it would just go away on its own. Then one day the serpentine belt just snapped in a grocery store parking lot. I mean, it was a huge hassle and way more expensive than if I'd just checked the sound early. That scare is the only reason I actually listen to my car now.
