Hot take: fishing with a glow rod in a dark drop ceiling saved me 40 minutes
I was roughing in a keypad on a wall in a house near Denver and the run went through a drop ceiling packed with insulation. My fish tape kept snagging on everything and I was about to cut an access hole. I taped a small glow stick to the end of my tape and it lit up the whole path so I could see exactly where it was getting caught. Not sure why I never tried that before, but has anyone else used glow sticks or something similar for blind pulls?
Okay but is a glow stick really needed here? In a packed drop ceiling you'd still have insulation blocking most of the light, so I'm not sure how much it actually helped you see the snag vs just guessing where it was. I've had decent luck just pulling the tape back a few feet and giving it a slow spin to walk it past whatever it's catching on. Forty minutes of fighting a snag sounds more like the tape was kinked or you were pushing into a joist, which no amount of light is gonna fix.
