Tried using wireless sensors for a commercial building - biggest mistake I've made in 8 years

Had a client in Austin with a warehouse conversion they wanted monitored. Owner wanted to save money and asked me to go wireless instead of hardwiring. I figured hey, the specs looked solid. First 3 weeks were fine. Then the interference started. All 15 motion sensors went offline during a thunderstorm. False alarms every night from a neighboring business's wifi. Spent 6 weekends chasing signals and replacing batteries. Ended up ripping it all out and running wire anyway. Client paid double in the end. Has anyone else had wireless fail this bad on a bigger install?

Wireless is great till it isn't. Everything fails when you need it most.

Read something similar in a tech blog, @danielowens. Spot on assessment.
