Trying to find a specific old anime clip took me 4 hours yesterday
I was sure I saw a fight scene from an early 2000s mecha show on a forum years ago. I remembered the main character yelling something like 'full power' and a blue robot. Could not find it. Searched every old forum thread I could think of. Even tried those anime clip sites. Nothing. Finally, I asked in a Discord group for old anime fans. Someone linked it in 5 minutes. It was from a show called 'Gear Fighter Dendoh'. I had the color and quote totally wrong. The robot was mostly white. He yelled 'maximum output'. I felt so dumb. Has anyone else spent way too long looking for a scene you barely remembered?

Honestly, the worst part is when your brain makes up a perfect fake memory just to mess with you. You swear the robot was blue and the line was iconic, and you build this whole mental scene that never existed. It makes me wonder how many other shows I've completely misremembered and will never find because I'm searching for a ghost.

Ugh YES, @perry.jesse, it's the worst! I spent YEARS looking for this cartoon where a kid had a magic skateboard. I could see the whole scene, the board glowing green. Turns out it was a magic SCOOTER in a totally different show, and it was orange. My brain built a whole fake show around one wrong detail. It's so creepy when you realize your own memories can't be trusted.

Happens all the time with more than just old shows. I'll swear I left my keys on the kitchen counter, but they're in my jacket pocket. Or I'll totally misremember a conversation, getting the details and even the tone completely wrong. It makes you question how solid any of your memories really are, like your brain is just making a best guess version of events after the fact.
