DAE think charging a $75 diagnostic fee loses more customers than it saves?
Was at a customer's place in Tempe fixing a dryer that wouldn't heat. I told her upfront it's $75 to look at it, she said fine. Turned out to be a $12 thermal fuse. She paid the $75 plus the part, all good. But my buddy does free diagnostics and says he books way more repair jobs than me. I think the fee keeps tire kickers away but he thinks it scares off real work. Which way do you guys run it?
