Caught my next door neighbor trying to top his pine tree with a handsaw

Yesterday, I saw my neighbor on a ladder with a handsaw, trying to top his pine tree. I rushed over and stopped him. He wanted to save money and thought it was simple. I told him topping harms trees and is unsafe if you're not trained. Lately, I notice more folks attempting their own tree care. This trend worries me because it leads to accidents and damaged trees. Seriously? It's just cutting some branches. Trees are tough, they bounce back from way worse.
