Hit 10,000 trees planted last season and it hit different

I was just going back through my old field notes from the last 5 years and realized I've personally planted 10,347 trees working with a crew up near Portland. Never thought I'd see that number when I started out as a groundie. Anyone else keep a tally of their work over the years or just me?

Did you ever think you'd hit that kind of number when you first started out? I kept a running tally in a spiral notebook for my first three years working on a reforestation crew in Oregon. Ended up around 8,200 trees before I lost the book in a move. Feels good to see those numbers add up over time, makes all the sore backs and wet days worth it.

Started counting my first season too. Got to around 4,500 before I realized my notebook had mold growing through it from being wet so many days. Had to toss it. Now I just guess based on how many pairs of boots I destroy per season. Four pairs deep last year, so I figure that's gotta be at least 10,000 trees right? Math checks out.
