Seeing storm damage turned me into a crown thinning believer

I always thought thinning big tree crowns was just extra effort with no real gain. After a bad wind event, the trees I had thinned stayed strong while others lost limbs. Do you make crown thinning a regular part of your tree care plan too?

Wait, they lost whole sections? I pictured a few twigs, not major branches coming down.

Look at the photos in the article. They lost whole sides of trees, not just branches.
