Unpopular take: that 12,000 year old footprint site is way overhyped and I say this as someone who dug there
I spent 6 weeks on a dig near White Sands in 2022 and heard the same seed debate hashed out every single night in the mess tent. When the footprint dates came back at 21,000 to 23,000 years, half our crew acted like it rewrote the whole peopling of the Americas, but the seeds still bother me and a lot of others. Why does everyone treat one contested site as settled fact when the dating fight is still going?
