The time I got asked to leave a library in Tulsa for talking too loud, and now I can't study in public
I was at the downtown library in Tulsa trying to study for a midterm last month. A guy at the table next to me kept glaring, then he got up and came over and said I was basically ruining his whole afternoon. I wasn't even that loud, just talking to my study partner about the French Revolution. The librarian came over and asked me to move to a private room, and I've been doing all my work at home since. Where do you all go when you need to actually focus? I'm open to spots that aren't just my couch.
Makes sense that you're avoiding public study spots after that, but I'd say don't let one grumpy guy win. Try a different branch or a college library instead, because most campuses don't care if you whisper about the French Revolution as long as you're not yelling. Coffee shops can work too, but you have to pick the right one, like a quiet spot in the morning before the lunch crowd rolls in. The real trick is finding places where talking quietly is normal, not treated like a crime. Libraries with group study rooms are honestly your best bet, you just have to book them ahead of time.
