After boosting colors in my moon shot, it doesn't look right anymore

I got a clear photo of the moon during the last eclipse. I upped the saturation so the craters stood out, but now it seems overdone. Do you ever worry about making space photos look too fake?

You know what KILLS me about space photos? When they look like someone sprayed neon paint on a rock. @anna717 is right about using a light touch. I saw one last week that looked like a glow stick and it just felt DISHONEST. The real moon is cool because it's REAL, you know? Crank those sliders back down and let the natural shadows do the work. That subtle detail is way more impressive than fake color.

Totally get that. Ruined a good shot of Jupiter doing the same thing. Found a better way to pull out the craters without wrecking it. Try just the clarity slider a tiny bit, then a very small bump on vibrance, not saturation. It keeps things way more natural. @ninar68 had a point about that real moon look, and this method gets closer to that. The photo should still feel like a rock in space, not a neon sign.

Ugh, totally. I've been there so many times. You try to pull out the cool details and suddenly it looks like a cartoon planet from a video game. I think we all want that "wow" factor but then you lose the real feeling of it. My best shots now are the ones where I barely touch the sliders, just a tiny nudge. It's a tough balance for sure. Don't be afraid to hit undo and start over with a much lighter touch.

Used to love neon moons, but 'real moon' changed my mind.
