Chose a 6 inch dob over a used 8 inch SCT for my first real scope, and the weight won
Stood in a guy's driveway in Boise last month with $400 cash and two scopes in front of me: a dusty 8 inch SCT on a wobbly fork mount or a clean 6 inch dob I could carry out in one trip. I went with the dob because I live on the second floor and knew I'd skip nights if setup took 20 minutes, and I've logged 11 clear nights since. Anyone here go the other way and actually stick with a heavier rig, or does the big tube just collect dust after the first month?
