Found a weird trick for cleaning my telescope mirror that actually worked

After 3 attempts with the usual lens cleaner, my 8 inch Dobsonian mirror still looked like a foggy mess. Out of desperation I tried distilled water and a tiny drop of dish soap, then rinsed with more distilled water. Let it air dry tilted at an angle in my bathroom for 2 hours. Came out spotless and I could finally see Jupiter's bands again. Anyone else got a weird cleaning method that isn't the standard kit?

Oh wow, you're right about that. I've always dried mine flat and still get tiny spots sometimes, so maybe I should try the tilt next time and just leave the room so I don't mess with it.

Yep! You really shouldn't tilt it. That can leave streaks. Flat dry only.

Wait, isn't tilting it better so the water drains off instead of pooling? I've always done the angled air dry and never had streaks, as long as you don't mess with it while it's drying.
