Tried stacking 50 photos of Orion instead of just 10 last night

I always just took a few quick shots of the nebula and called it good, but last week I forced myself to take 50 frames and stack them in DeepSkyStacker. The difference in detail and noise reduction was huge, like stepping into a new hobby. Has anyone else had that moment where they realized they were way too lazy with their stacking?

Pro tip: cold water in your pie crust changed everything for me

I was at a bakery in Portland last fall and the owner told me to use ice water straight from the freezer, not just cold tap water. Tried it on my last 3 batches and the flakes are way better now. Anyone else get picky about water temp for dough?

Talked to a diesel mechanic at the parts counter who told me I was overthinking my torque wrench calibration

He said he just uses his snap-on digital every 6 months and hasn't had a come back in 20 years, so now I'm wondering if my yearly $150 calibration service is just wasting money, anyone else skip the fancy labs?

Heard a guy at the hardware store say most alarm panels are installed too high

I was grabbing some screws and this older guy was telling the clerk how he sees panels mounted at eye level or above all the time. Said it makes them a pain to work on and looks worse. Made me think about my last 3 jobs where I put them around 54 inches off the floor. Never had a complaint about reach or looks. Has anyone else tried dropping their panel height a bit?

Hot take: it took me 5 hours to figure out a simple CSS flexbox layout

Everyone says flexbox is easy and beginner friendly. Been at it for 3 months now. Needed three boxes side by side on desktop and stacked on mobile. Kept getting overflow errors and weird spacing. Finally realized I was missing a flex-wrap property and a width setting on the parent. 5 hours for one dumb property. Honestly made me feel like quitting for a bit. Has anyone else had a simple CSS thing take way too long for no good reason?

Our inspector offered us a sewer scope for an extra $150. We said no to save money. Three months later our basement flooded with raw sewage. Cost us $4,200 to fix the pipe collapse. Anyone else get burned skipping a cheap add-on test?

Rewatched The Wire after 10 years and caught stuff I completely missed the first time

I watched The Wire back in 2008 when it first aired on HBO. Ten years later my buddy convinced me to binge the whole thing again over a long weekend. I picked up on how the dock workers storyline connects to the drug dealers in ways I never realized before. It felt like watching a completely different show because I knew where things were heading. I learned that some shows reward a second watch way more than you expect. Has anyone else revisited an old favorite and felt like they were seeing it for the first time?

Hit 500 bouquets sold last week and it got me thinking

I've been running my little flower shop out of my garage for about 2 years now. Last Tuesday I sold my 500th bouquet to a regular who comes in every other week for her kitchen table. She didn't even know it was a milestone, just picked her usual mix of sunflowers and eucalyptus. That number stopped me cold because when I started I was lucky to sell 5 bouquets a week, mostly to my neighbors. Now I'm averaging around 12 a week and it still feels like a side gig but the numbers say otherwise. I never planned to track sales that closely, just happened because I use a simple spreadsheet for my supply orders. Has anyone else hit a random number that made them realize their hobby turned into something real?

I used to think detailed project tracking was just busywork until a client in Austin spent 20 minutes showing me how they used color-coded columns to flag delays. Now I actually ask clients for their own tracking methods instead of forcing mine. Has anyone else had a client teach you something that stuck?

I dropped $150 on a show subscription bundle and it was a total scam

I saw this ad for a bundle that gave access to 5 streaming services for one price. It sounded perfect for binging all weekend. Paid $150 upfront and the first week was fine, then the shows started glitching and half the links were dead. Customer service ghosted me after I complained. Has anyone else fallen for one of those sketchy subscription deals?
