That $700 'lifetime' router bit set was a total waste
I bought one of those big router bit sets with the aluminum case, thinking I was set for life. Cost me around $700 at a lumber supply in Spokane. Within four months, the 1/2 inch straight bit wobbled so bad it left burn marks on a oak shelf I was building. Checked the shank with a caliper and it was out of round by almost 0.004 inch. The other bits in the set, they might as well be wall art for how often I use them. I ended up buying single bits from a local sharpening shop for about $30 each and they cut cleaner after a year of use. Anyone else find that those bundled sets are mostly filler and junk?
