Heads up: almost deleted my whole comet shoot by mistake
I was cleaning up old files on my laptop and nearly erased a folder with my latest comet photos. Didn't have a backup because I thought I'd moved them already. Had to dig through trash bins and luckily found most of them. Now I label everything clearly and backup right after each session. Trust me, you don't want to stress like I did.

Ever try a cloud backup that runs automatically? I lost some edited photos once the same way. Now I have a drive that just copies new stuff by itself. That gut drop feeling is the worst.

Two years back I set up Time Machine to an external drive for hourly copies, plus Backblaze for off-site. Had a drive fail last fall and just grabbed the files from the cloud. Took maybe ten minutes to restore everything. That setup means I never even think about it now, no panic at all.

Man, @the_eric has the right idea. I spent a whole weekend trying to get my old backup drive to work and still lost some family photos from years ago. That feeling stays with you.

Hold on, ten minutes to restore everything from the cloud? That sounds unreal. Every time I've had to pull files from online backup, it took forever, like multiple hours at least. You must have a really solid internet connection or something. Losing data is such a headache, so hearing your recovery was that smooth is almost hard to believe. It makes me wonder if my backup service is even working right. Maybe I need to test mine out soon.
