My astro club president swore stacking more frames always wins, and after 300 shots of the Orion Nebula I think he is half wrong
Dave runs our club in Tucson and keeps telling every new member that the answer to noise is always more subs, no matter what. So back in January I shot 300 frames of Orion from my driveway with a cheap tracker and stacked every single one, and the core came out as a blown out white blob compared to my buddy's 40 frame set at a darker site. Turns out 250 of my shots were taken through thin clouds and a full moon, so I was just stacking garbage on top of garbage. Anyone else think we push total frame count too hard and not enough on sky conditions and keeping the bright core under control?
