Stacking 200 frames used to take me all night, now it's 15 minutes with the new software

I used to think manual stacking was the only honest way. Spent two years doing it frame by frame in Photoshop. Then I tried Siril last month on a whim. The background extraction alone saved me an hour on a single shot of the Orion Nebula. I still do final tweaks by hand, but the grunt work is gone. Anyone else switch over and feel like they were wasting time before?

Bought a cheap laser thermometer last week to check my gear bag temps, ended up pointing it at everything in the house including my cat. She didn't care. Anyway, yeah, the automation thing is real, I just miss the ritual of it sometimes.

Three months ago I kept a log of every step in my M31 workflow, and manual calibration alone was eating 40 minutes per session. Now I run WBPP in Siril and use the time to actually check my polar alignment twice. @gibson.troy, I get the ritual thing, but I kept a notebook of my old manual settings for the first month, just in case the software spit out something weird. It never did, and now that notebook just sits on my desk holding a lens cap.
