The night of the 12th, my cheap 70-300 lens got me 4 shots of Saturn's rings from my driveway
I got my first telescope last spring but honestly my best astro photos come from the cheap zoom lens on my camera. On the night of the 12th the sky over my town was finally clear after like two weeks of clouds, so I set up in the driveway around 10pm and just started shooting. Got 4 frames of Saturn where the rings actually show as a gap from the planet, which blew my mind since I paid $180 for the lens used. Also caught the Andromeda galaxy as a faint fuzzy smudge, not great but you can tell it's there. Anybody got tips for stacking shots without fancy software?
