PSA: I blew $180 on a paid Discord server for ATL meetups and it was a ghost town
Back in January I paid $15 a month for a "premium" Atlanta chat group that promised weekly meetups and a private channel with event planners. I stayed 12 months, which is $180 I will never see again. The Discord had over 4,000 members but maybe 6 people ever posted, and the one in-person mixer they held was at a bar in Midtown with 9 folks, 3 of whom were the mods. The owner kept posting "big announcement coming" and then nothing happened. I finally canceled after realizing the free ATL chats I'm already in have way more real talk and actual plans. Has anyone found a local chat that actually turns into real hangouts, or is paying for one always a scam?
