TIL 11 of the 60 messages in the main ATL chat room last night were just people saying 'new here' with no other words
I was up late scrolling the Atlanta local chat room on Tuesday and started counting, and 11 out of about 60 messages were people just typing 'hey, new here' and nothing else. What bugs me is nobody ever tells them which room to actually start in, so they sit quiet while the regulars keep talking about the same 3 things. I know because I did the same thing back in March and sat silent for a whole week before someone finally said hi. Is there a pinned room list somewhere I keep missing, or do we just need one?

How many of those 11 actually stuck around past the first week though? That's the real test, because a pinned room list only helps if the new folks read it before they wander off. And the regulars yapping about the same 3 things probably don't even notice the quiet ones, so who's supposed to point them somewhere? Maybe the fix isn't a list but one person saying "hey, try this room" like someone did for you.
