Chose a local coworking space over WeWork for my weekly networking

I had to pick between a $200/month WeWork membership and a $150/month spot in a small Midtown shared office. Honestly, I went with the local spot because the owner actually introduced me to two people on my first day. Has anyone else found that smaller places give better connections than the big chains?

Wait, so the owner was physically there and made intros on day one? That's huge. I had a similar thing at a place in Chelsea where the guy running it actually remembered my industry from the application form and walked me over to someone he thought could help. Did the owner just randomly pair you with people or did they actually match you based on what you do, because that makes a massive difference in whether the connection is actually useful or just awkward small talk?

Got paired based on what I did, not randomly. @the_elizabeth I walked into this spot in Brooklyn where the owner had my info from the app and already knew I was into music production. He walked me straight over to this guy who runs a small studio, and we ended up talking gear for 20 minutes. That connection actually led to me collabing on a track a few weeks later. Random intros can be so awkward, but when someone actually lines it up with your work, it's way more natural and worth your time.

Doesn't random pairing sometimes lead to better surprises though?
