Got stuck in a 2 hour parking deck loop at a Buckhead mixer and pitched 3 people by accident
Last Thursday I went to a business mixer near Lenox Square and the parking deck sign said level 4 for the event, so I drove up and down for 2 hours because every spot said reserved. I finally parked on level 6 and walked down, and by then I was sweaty and holding a cold nametag. I ended up talking to a guy named Dave who runs a payroll company, and then a woman who does commercial real estate, and we just swapped cards in the stairwell because the elevator was broken. Do people here actually map out parking before these events or do you just accept the chaos and hope you meet someone in line?
I started checking the deck's website before I even leave the house now, and if the event page doesn't list a specific level I just plan to park on the top floor since nobody ever reserves those spots. The walk down sucks but at least you're not circling and getting mad. One thing that helped me a lot was showing up like 30 minutes early, because you grab a spot easy and then you can cool off in the car instead of walking in looking like you just ran a mile. Met way more people that way too, since the early crowd is usually the folks actually there to talk instead of just grab a drink.
