I thought a kill fee was just a way for clients to back out, but it saved me $2,000 last month.

That's a good story. It's nice to hear when a contract actually does what it's supposed to do and saves you a headache like that. Getting paid without a fight is the best outcome in situations like that.

Just read that most AI training datasets have less than 5% non-English content

I mean I get where you're coming from but the rest of the world gets to play the same game we do, they just don't want to spend the money. Every country has their own labs and universities that could be doing this stuff if they wanted to. It's not like we're hiding the blueprints or anything, we're just the ones willing to foot the bill for the research and development.

Had a client ghost me for 6 months on a $900 invoice.

Perfect timing from that judge's gavel. @garcia.cameron probably would have the filing fee paid before the clerk even stamps it.

Hit 100 late payments tracked in my spreadsheet yesterday

@maryr43 yeah milestones are weird like that. It's almost like society just expects you to hit certain ages and magically have everything squared away but real life never works that way.

My Denver sublet almost got me evicted because I didn't read the master lease

... and that's exactly what my buddy Frank did when he sublet his place downtown. Signed everything over in good faith, paid first and last, then found out the building had a no-pet policy the day after he moved his golden retriever in. Landlord showed up the next morning with a written warning. Turns out the main tenant had three cats nobody knew about and figured it'd be fine. Frank lost two months rent trying to break the lease and the dog had to stay with his parents for six months. Sometimes you gotta wonder why folks can't just be straight with each other.
