Just realized my networking style was all off after a chat with an old pro

I was talking to a guy named Ron at a tech meetup last Tuesday who's been in Atlanta IT for 20 years. He said I was too focused on handing out cards instead of actually listening, and it hit me that I've been treating every conversation like a sales pitch. Do you lean more toward quick swaps or deep talks at these events?

Ron sounds like the type who'll point out all your blind spots...

Ask him if he's ever actually acted on any of Ron's criticism or did he just brush it off at first. That's usually where the real growth happens, when you swallow your pride and actually try what they're saying. Curious how long it took him to stop getting defensive and start listening.

Started asking him straight up stuff like "what am I missing here?" and holy crap it's been a game changer for my projects lol.
