TIL the $10 coffee meetup beats the $50 suit and tie mixer every time
Went to a fancy suit and tie mixer in Buckhead last month and a plain coffee meetup at a shop in Decatur two weeks later. The suit thing cost $50 to get in and I walked out with zero real contacts, just a lot of firm handshakes. The coffee one was $10 and I ended up talking to a guy for 40 minutes who actually introduced me to two people in my field. Same city, same goal, but the low key room just made folks way easier to talk to. Has anyone else noticed the paid networking events around here feel more stiff than the free ones?
