I put a 2018 Ford F-150 bed on a 2022 frame and the body lines were off by half an inch

We had a customer who insisted on keeping his old bed after a rear-end wreck. The new frame looked right, but when we set the bed down, the gap at the cab was way off. Turns out, Ford changed the mounting points slightly in 2020. We had to cut and weld new brackets to make it fit. Anyone else run into this with the newer aluminum body trucks?

Man, that's a classic Ford move. My buddy tried to swap a 2019 tailgate onto his 2021 truck and the whole latch system was different, the bolt holes were off. He ended up having to get a whole new latch assembly and drill new holes, it was a mess. It's like @caseya74 said, they just shift things enough to ruin your whole weekend project. Seems like with the aluminum bodies, even the small parts aren't cross-compatible like they used to be.

Ever notice how everything feels built to stop you from fixing it yourself? It's not just trucks, it's phones and appliances too. They design out the simple repairs so you have to buy new or pay their price.

Ever try to put a toolbox in a newer bed and find the bolt holes don't line up? I swear they move stuff just to mess with us.
