That moment the clear coat fisheyed on a full quarter panel in Fresno
I was spraying a 2018 silver Accord last Tuesday, humidity was fine, and boom, tiny craters showed up right after the second coat. Turns out I forgot to wipe down with wax and grease remover after the final sand, now I do a tack cloth pass twice before any sealer. Has anyone else had fisheyes pop up from a dusty compressor line even with a good dryer on the rig?
So did you pull the trigger on draining the tank or just hope the dryer caught it? I fought fisheyes for a whole summer before I figured out my compressor was the problem, not my gun work. Even with a good dryer on the rig, if the tank itself has water sitting in the bottom, it sneaks past and spits oil and moisture right into the pattern. The fix for me was draining the tank every single morning, no skipping, plus a cheap inline filter right at the gun. Also check your air hose, if it's old and breaking down inside it'll throw junk in there too. Tack cloth twice before sealer is smart, I do the same thing now after getting burned on a black hood once.
