Nothing beats the frustration of a car problem that takes days to figure out

Seriously, if you skip checking the easy stuff first, you're just wasting time. I once spent two full days tracking down a misfire that was just a bad coil pack, all because I thought it was something worse, lmao.

My buddy Greg bought a used OBD scanner just to diagnose his rough idle. He spent a whole weekend reading forums about sensor codes, but it turned out to be a cracked vacuum hose he could have spotted in two minutes if he'd just looked under the hood first.

That reminds me of my neighbor who replaced his entire thermostat system last winter. He bought THREE different smart thermostats, convinced his wiring was faulty. The HVAC guy just flipped the breaker back on at the main panel. It was off the whole time. Sometimes the solution is stupid simple, which totally fits what @mason273 is saying. We overthink the fancy tech and miss the basic stuff right in front of us.

You're kidding, right? He replaced three whole units without even flipping the breaker back on?
