Thought cheap oil filters were fine until an engine clogged on me
I used to grab whatever filter was on sale for quick oil changes. After seeing sludge buildup from a no-name filter ruin a motor, I only use quality ones now. What filter brands do you swear by for daily drivers?
After that "engine clogged" moment, cheap filters stop seeming like a smart buy. It's the mechanic's version of finding out free pizza has consequences. Now I just pick a solid brand and avoid the drama.
Filters do matter but the price tag isn't always the full story. A lot of those budget brands come from the same factories as the expensive ones. My old truck ran fine for years with the basic parts store filters. Sometimes you're just paying for the name on the box.
