inSelling my friend's surfing lessons online has me split between Instagram reels and local flyers.
Last summer, I made a dozen surfing reels for my buddy's shop. My editing was so bad that the only comments were from people asking if my camera was broken. But the simple flyers we put up at the coffee shop brought in real customers who actually showed up. Reels are great for sharing, but they don't always turn into bookings. Flyers target locals who are ready to learn and live nearby. So start with flyers, then use reels to build hype after you have a few students.

inShowerthought: My neighbor saw my comic collection and made a snap judgment
Funny enough, I was totally on Anthony's side for years, always trying to give the full museum tour of my comics or my record shelves. It just made people's eyes glaze over, though. Then my buddy asked about one beat-up Ramones album, and we talked just about that for an hour. Way better than listing every punk band I own. Now I just point to the one thing that's actually out and let the chat go from there, saves everyone the hassle.
