Question about knock sensor placement after my intake swap
I swapped the intake manifold on my 2013 WRX last month and moved the knock sensor to the block boss near cylinder 4 because a forum thread from 2009 made it sound like the factory spot was deaf to knock on that side. Now I'm getting pulled timing on logs at 4,200 rpm under light boost even with fresh 93 octane from the Shell off Route 9. A local tuner in Worcester looked at my datalog and said the sensor is picking up valvetrain noise, not real detonation, which is why my knock learning keeps jumping around. I want to put it back to stock but I'm not sure if the torque spec matters as much as people say. Has anyone run into false knock after relocating a sensor, and what did you do to fix it?
