Brownout fried a 777's IRS worse than any bird strike I've seen

We were swapping a pitot probe at O'Hare, quick line job, and someone pulled the ground power cart while the standby instruments still had the bus open. Lights flickered once, then the IRS alignment went sideways. Took two full days and a bench test to clear the ADIRU fault codes, and the lead kept saying "just cycle power" like it was a router. Got sent home twice because the smoke smell wouldn't leave the cockpit. Anyone else seen a brownout kill more expensive boards than actual lightning? That ground support switching needs a lockout tag on the 28-volt side, right?
