Showerthought: lost a whole night to a bad connector on a pitot static check
Last Thursday I was doing a pitot static leak check on a King Air at our hangar in Tulsa and the test box kept flagging a leak on the pilot side. I spent almost three hours chasing it, opening panels, reseating lines, swapping adapters, checking every fitting I could reach. Turned out the culprit was a worn o ring in my own pitot adapter, a cheap part I had used for maybe two years without ever looking at it. My lead walked by and asked if I had swapped the adapter first, and I just stood there. That one question would have saved me the whole night. Now I keep two spare adapters in the case and check them before every job. What is the dumbest tool side problem you have chased for way too long before checking the easy stuff?
