Update: I quit bending pins by eye on Cannon plugs and started using the right tool
Six months ago I was still doing connector pin extraction with a paper clip and needle nose pliers, and I popped three pins in one week on a King Air panel swap. A guy at the shop in Wichita handed me his Daniels DMC crimper and extraction kit and told me I was asking for a short every time. Now I use the proper tool with the right positioner, and I have not buggered a single pin since. The crimp pull test numbers come out consistent instead of me guessing if it felt tight enough. I also stopped chasing intermittent faults that turned out to be my own bad pin jobs. What extraction and crimp tools are you all running, and has anyone found a decent kit that does not cost $600?
