I finally tried hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim after thinking it was overhyped
I kept putting off the Rim to Rim hike at Grand Canyon because everyone talks about it and I figured it was just a tourist trap with crowds. Did it on October 8th from the North Kaibab trailhead and it took me 13 hours to reach the South Rim. The canyon walls at sunrise near Ribbon Falls were not something I can describe well in words. Has anyone here done it in two days instead of one long push?
Did you stay at Bright Angel Campground or push all the way to Cottonwood? I did it in two days last spring, North Kaibab down to Phantom Ranch the first day, then up Bright Angel the next. Having that halfway break made the climb out way less brutal, plus you get to actually sit by the river and eat a real meal instead of shoving bars in your face while moving.
