Learned the hard way at a church bake sale why you don't skip chilling pie dough

At least @shane_morgan's butter puddle looked more edible than my charcoal pie attempt.

Three hours of work melted into a sad butter puddle on the church fellowship hall floor. I honestly thought skipping the chill step was just a suggestion for people with patience, not an actual law of baking physics lol. My "rustic" pie became a flat, greasy mess that looked like a pancake had a bad accident. Pastor Mike had to reassure everyone it was "artisan" while I wanted to crawl under the dessert table. My grandma would have disowned me if she saw me trying to serve that disaster to the ladies from the quilting circle. Never again, lesson learned the messy way lmao.

Pull up a chair and let me pour you a glass of whatever's left of your dignity, 'cause that pie story is a whole new level of oof. "Artisan" is church code for "we're all pretending this is fine so nobody cries," but bless Pastor Mike for going full damage control. I bet the quilting ladies were too polite to say anything, but they were definitely tweaking Grandma's pie recipe in their heads while you were scraping butter off the floor.
