Salvaged a flat cake with a mason jar trick, no lie

After 3 tries my sponge kept sinking in the middle, so I grabbed a clean empty jam jar, set it on the wire rack, and draped the cake over it to cool upside down. It worked perfectly, now I'm wondering why I spent all that time flipping pans and testing toothpicks, has anyone else used this weird hack?

Cake sinking is fixable with a whisk and a timer, you don't need a whole mason jar ritual. Sounds like you overthought the whole thing honestly. Sponge cake is just about not opening the oven early and using the right flour. But hey if draping it over a jam jar makes you happy, you do you. That's a lot of extra steps for something a toothpick can solve.
