Why I stopped believing that charging by the hour is always fair for both sides

After a kitchen remodel in Austin last spring where I billed a client 60 hours but finished in 40 because I got faster as I went, I realized flat rate quotes actually reward me for being efficient instead of punishing me for it.

Flat fee pricing actually changes how you negotiate too. Clients stop watching the clock and start focusing on the actual value you're providing. Makes the whole conversation less tense.

Choose a flat fee and watch how fast your quality work actually builds client trust over time.

Listen, I flat fee all day long and it works because clients stop nickel and diming you over every little thing. They actually trust you to do the job right without hovering over your shoulder every five minutes. That trust alone makes the whole relationship smoother and way less stressful for both sides. Plus once they see you deliver quality work at a fair price they'll come back again and again without you having to sell them anything. It just makes sense if you know your worth and can deliver on it.
