Am I the only one who hit 100 straight days of work and felt nothing?
I used to think hitting 100 days without a single day off was some kind of badge. Back when I started freelancing in 2019, I would take a Sunday off and feel guilty about it, like I was falling behind. Last week I looked at my calendar and realized I had gone 100 days straight, and instead of feeling proud, I just felt tired and kind of empty. My old ritual was a Friday afternoon walk around the block to close out the week, and somewhere along the way I stopped doing it without even noticing. What is the one small thing you used to do to mark the end of a work week that you let slip?
Hitting 100 days straight is not a badge, it is a warning light. There is nothing noble about grinding through every single day with no rest, and your body and brain keep score even when you pretend they don't. The fact that you felt empty instead of proud tells you everything you need to know. That Friday walk was not just a habit, it was your signal to yourself that the week was done and you could breathe. Losing it probably happened slowly, one busy Friday at a time, until the weeks just blurred into one long stretch. Bring the walk back, not as a reward for finishing, but as a line you draw so the work does not swallow the whole calendar.
